Good tool, however requires strength to handle the repeating hammer. If the log is not split it is really very hard, but otherwise very effective for making logs.

Sturdy and effective product on VERY DRY wood but impossible to split freshly cut holm oak, even logs of modest section of 25 cm and even with Herculean force when throwing the weight (I am not penguin). I made 1 stere in a row in very dry oak 3 years of drying, diameter 25 to 40 cm (- 25% humidity) but the tool absolutely does not like knots. It is necessary to position the wedge well by choosing the slot of the wood and especially to attack the ball on an edge and not in the center. Put the wedge on the bottom because it definitely helps in splitting by multiplying the force of the weight enormously. You have to throw the weight well, sometimes 3 or 4 times and it bursts well. I therefore recommend this tool which does the job for a contained price and for home use. Finally, the package ordered arrived quickly in perfect condition. If I put a score out of 20 it's 15/20.
