Carburetors: make the right choice
Many tools and pieces of equipment are equipped with a combustion engine: gas chainsaw, lawn mower, generator, etc. Whether the thermal engine is 2 or 4 stroke, it includes essential mechanical components among which is the carburetor. The latter is responsible for regulating the air and fuel mixture before it enters the combustion chamber. Generally found are:
- a diaphragm or compensating carburetor;
- a classic carburetor.
In case of a malfunction of the diaphragm carburetor, it can be replaced with a part from the same brand or a compatible brand. Compatibility is indeed a criterion to check before any replacement. Moreover, identifying the malfunction and the nature of the wear is essential before undertaking any repair or maintenance. In this regard, it is important to know whether it is about:
- a carburetor with independent circuits;
- a carburetor with dependent circuits.
Malfunctions can originate from various sources. However, checks must be made on the components of the carburetor, including the springs, the fuel inlet needle, seals, valve jet, adjustment diaphragm, pump diaphragm, the suction chamber diaphragm… If dysfunctions, blockages, or wear are found, a simple repair might suffice. To do this, having a complete carburetor kit is a solution for individuals wanting to repair their motorized garden tool.
If a part of the carburetor is faulty, simply replacing it by purchasing individually is possible. Indeed, a seal, a primer bulb, a priming pump, a valve or a diaphragm can be acquired separately from the complete kit. Nonetheless, a check of the brand and model must always be made to ensure these parts are suitable for the device.
To ensure the longevity of a carburetor, and of the motorized garden tool, checking the adjustments is essential. The device must maintain a precise regime (neither too high nor too low) with a good engine rotation speed for the air and fuel mixture to be done correctly. The device will thus reach all the necessary power to perform its various tasks.
